Q: I’ve heard from people that like you and they say you’re a freak athletically and that you can rush the passer but also cover the tight end, what does it mean to have people rave about you?Ī: Something I read in the Bible: Ability is God-given, fame is man-given. God willing, whatever years that he blesses me with to play in the NFL and showcase my abilities are years that I’ll count as blessings and when it’s all said and done, hopefully I can make that transition over to the broadcasting side. Q: How long do you anticipate playing in the NFL before moving to TV? I’ve been in front of the camera since the second grade so I’ve pretty much knew what I wanted to do since I was like eight. Q: If football doesn’t work out for you, what do you want to do with that mass communications degree?Ī: My dream job is to be an ESPN sports analyst. I’m really truly honored that they did that and everything’s pretty much going on the up and up since I’ve been here. The coaches were genuine and really honest about a lot of things and they made me earn everything. I also found out that the defense that they played in was a scheme that I felt like really fit me. When I got here, I found out that they had a great mass communications program and that’s something that’s really important to me – my education. At that point in time, I didn’t know where Norfolk State was. But, when I spoke to my high school coaches, they kind of suggested Norfolk State. ![]() Q: When you left Florida, why was Norfolk State the right fit for you?Ī: When I was transferring from the University of Florida, a lot of people were blowing up my phone like crazy. There’s a lot of close knit guys in that recruiting that class there. We all keep up with each other through social media i.e. Q: You were part of a big recruiting class that included Dominique Easley when you went there, have you stayed in touch with any of those guys?Ī: Yeah I feel like our 2010 class is kind of a family. ![]() I feel like I was getting overlooked and my playing time there wasn’t really what I wanted it to be so I decided to part ways with the University of Florida. Q: You’re only a small school guy because you transferred form the University of Florida, what was it that didn’t work out at Florida?Ī: I just felt like my time was up. I’m just a small school guy that has an opportunity to show people what I can do. In addition to that, I feel like this is going to do wonders for me. It’s just a blessing to know that my hard work’s paid off and someone’s actually noticed that I’m a great player and the abilities that I’ve been blessed with. Q: Congratulations on your acceptance to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, what was your reaction when you found out you were being invited?Ī: I pretty much wanted to shed a tear. It’s unusual to see anybody 6-foot-7 and playing linebacker but I also see myself as a pass rusher. ![]() Q: When we talk about you as being a hybrid player, where do you see yourself?Ī: I see myself being an outside linebacker.
